Is 'O' what they really say or is it just a place marker?
Here is some further detail about the Adam Boston alphabet from

Hello. If you have been able to use a Baycom (Baypac) type
modem with KA9Q/NOS (for example, JNOSX150) I would like to know
how it is done. Also, have you encountered any problems or
idiosyncrasies?
Thank you.

Antennas West carries a chest harness for HTs. They advertise in QST and
73, and their phone number is 1-800-926-7373.
I have no relationship with Antennas West, nor have I purchased any
thing from them.

SYNOPSIS OF ACT
--------------------
Solar activity was low due to a C3/1F flare at 01/2229Z
in Region 7680 (S11E25). This region continues to develop
slowly. Sunspot polarity measurements suggest that a small
delta configuration may be forming in the southern portion of
the region. Region 7682 (S19W27) also grew since yesterday and
produced a few subflares. New Region 7683 (S18W48) emerged on
the disk.
Solar activity forecast: solar activity is expected to be
low. C-class flares are possible in Regions 7680 and 7682.
There is a remote chance of an M-class flare in 7680.
The geomagnetic field was quiet to unsettled.
Geophysical activity forecast: the geomagnetic field is
expected to be quiet to unsettled for the next 24 hours.
Unsettled to active conditions are possible by the end of the
forecast period due to a coronal hole.

HF propagation conditions were normal over all regions.
Normal conditions should persist through most of 04 March
before effects of a well-placed coronal hole begin to elevate
levels of activity on 05 March. Minor signal degradation may
be observed on 05 March and for several days thereafter over
the middle latitude paths. Higher latitude paths could see
periods of stronger degradation, resulting in poor to
occasionally very poor transpolar and transauroral propagation.

SYNOPSIS OF ACT
--------------------
Solar activity was low. Region 7682 (S19W54) is the most
interesting region on the disk as a maturing E-type sunspot
group. It has produced several C-class subflares during the
past 24 hours.
Solar activity forecast: solar activity is expected to be
low with continued C-class activity in Region 7682. An isolated
M-class flare is possible.
The geomagnetic field was mostly quiet with an occassional
unsettled period at some high latitude stations.
Geophysical activity forecast: the geomagnetic field is
expected to be quiet to unsettled becoming active to storm
due to a coronal hole.

HF propagation conditions continued normal over all
regions. Gradual degradation of high and polar latitude path
signals is anticipated over the next 24 to 36 hours due to
effects from a well-placed coronal hole. Minor signal
degradation over the lower middle latitude regions is also
possible if this recurrent disturbance is as geoeffective as
was observed last solar rotation.

To Whom It May Concern;
If anyone actually cares about the libelous remarks put on INTERNET
by Steve Woodward, KD2KQ, I would like to set the record straight. Consider
the following:
1.) I dealt only with Dave Hallidy, KD5RO. All correspondence, money,
material, etc. was handled by and through him.
I HAVE ALL THE ORIGINAL LETTERS FROM HIM, WITH DATES, QUANTITIES AND SO ON.
2.) The first letter I received concerning this business was dated July 27,
1992 and the last letter received was dated November 19, 1992.
3.) Per the last letter received, out of a total of 15 TWTs and 15 TWT power
supplies, only one TWT was "damaged" (had a bent connector) and one power
supply had failed. All units were tested here at K-MEC prior to shipment
by myself and Don Davis, WB3AXQ. At that time I was trying to get another
power supply for Dave Hallidy to give out, but all the ones I had were dead.
I gave Dave several dead ones thinking that a "board swap" might fix one or
more of them.
4.) Further, due to the VERY LOW PRICE I was asking, (125.00 for tube
& supply, 25.00 more for X-band), I sold out before the end of summer. The
only complaint I received was from Rochester, out of the entire country,
Canada, England and Australia!
I did not have an infinite supply to keep sending replacements
FOR THOSE DAMGED BY THE END USER.
5.) Dave Hallidy was responsible for dispersement of the goods. He told
in a 'phone conversation that Steve, KD2KQ, had attempted to
"get more power" out of his TWTA and had "blown it up" while adjusting it.
DAVE HAD GIVEN STEVE A REPLACEMENT TUBE AND SUPPLY OUT OF THE YET
UN-DISTRIBUTED SUPPLY THAT I HAD SHIPPED TO DAVE, BECAUSE "STEVE SAYS HE HAD
JUST SLIGHTLY ADJUSTED THE POWER AND THE SUPPLY QUIT".
6.) No one offered to return any of the shipped material, at any time, for
credit against the time when I would get more tubes & supplies.
There are only two people who complained from Rochester. One is
Steve, probably one of the most despicable, underhanded, lying cheats I have
ever known, which considering some of the people you meet at Hamfests is
quite a statement. Hey, Steve, remember how you guys cheated me on the
waveguide deal, getting me to drive hundreds of pounds of X-band Waveguide
from Baltimore to Rochester, then refusing to pay the AGREED upon price,
telling me to "take it or leave it".
The second guy to complain is George Anderson, because Dave Hallidy admittied
to me that he gave Georges's TWT supply to Steve. When I told George that he
would have to see Dave to remedy the situation, George told me that Dave had
"moved to another town, and I don't see him anymore", and "Dave and I aren't
on great terms, anyway".
I did not ship any material that I knew to be bad and I believe that
Steve blew his supply up and blames me. Only 1 power supply caused trouble
out of 14 ordered, which is about 7% and that due to idiot operator
mal-adjustment. Other than the described problem, Dave Hallidy wrote me that
"All the other tubes and supplies work very well and the people who have
gotten them are pleased".
Plus, I gave them more good tubes and dead supplies, free of charge.
Even if the one power supply had failed of old age, what the HELL do you
expect from USED SURPLUS. These tubes & supplies are multi-kilobuck items.
Therefore if you want an absolute guarantee, buy new ones!
Further, Steve lies when he says this took "well over a year" when it
took only 4 months from start to finish.
His true nature as a despicable person is evident by the way he
"wants to pay Jeff back" by lying on the INTERNET.
I was actively working with these clowns, trying to help them out
and see that everything was made good on. After the waveguide deal, the LIES
that followed the tube deal and the whole general atmosphere of the
"Rochester Group", I had enough. Hey Steve, go ahead, go elsewhere, because
I REFUSE TO DO BUSINESS WITH YOU.
The paltry sum that I get from selling to people like this is not, in
anyway, compensation for the crap I have to take from lying bozos like this
guy. (Bozo - yes, read his e-mail, he can't spell OR compose.)
One thing is certain, I will always find neat stuff for people who
deal with me honestly and I won't miss the business of the jerks like this
who don't. They will lose instead. I feel that Steve and his "friends" were
trying to pull a fast one on me and get free stuff.
I am ready to support my side of the matter with the mail and the
shipping records with anyone who really cares. I am considering legal action
for libel in response to the untrue and unjust claims made by Steve Woodard.
Signed,
Jeff Kruth

found him to be one of the most reputable people I have ever dealt with. I have
no doubt that he is the innocent party to this incident.
